
COMPETITION RULES
BURBOT BASH HOUSE RULES

All participants MUST have a current 2025 AK fishing license on them and follow all State Regulations as well as State Fish and Game Rules & Regulations. Click here to purchase Ak State Fish & Game Fishing License.

NO fishing lines (baited or unbaited) in the water until the official start at 3pm Thursday.

Per Alaska Fish and Game Regulations, hooks must be single hooks with a gap between point and shank LARGER than ¾ inch.

No individual can get over the 15 burbot limit per day for the Tanana River.

Any bait (except live bait) is permitted.
-
A team may consist of 1 individual and up to 5 individuals.

Fishing will start Thursday, January 15th, at 3:00pm, and end Saturday January 17th, at 3:00pm.

ONLY BURBOT will be counted in this competition. However, you may keep any fish you catch, so long as it is in accordance with Fish and Game Rules and Regulations.

All team members must be registered and check-in before going out on the ice in the “Official Fishing Site” areas. Setup is allowed starting at 10am, including drilling holes, camp setup, tents, camping equipment, etc. before 3pm. BUT NO FISHING NOR FISHING LINES IN FISHING HOLES UNTIL 3PM.

NO FISH caught BEFORE the official start day and time (Friday, January 24th at 3pm) NOR AFTER the official end time (Saturday, January 25th at 3pm) are eligible for the competition. There is also NO fish allowed in coolers and/or at the designated “Official Fishing Site” before the designated start day and time as outlined above.

All eligible fish (burbot) for cash prizes and/or awards must be tagged and weighed at any of the official reporting and weigh-in times posted. Inquire at checkin for schedule of weigh-in times.

All eligible fish (burbot) must be officially weighed at one of the official reporting weigh-in days and times above by the official reporting and weigh-in committee throughout the 48 hours if you want those fish to count.

Reported and weighed fish must be marked/tagged by the official weigh-in and reporting committee.

Team with the most burbot will win a cash prize, to be determined. If there is a tie, the award will be divided among teams, not individual team members.

Team with the heaviest fish (by weight) will win $500 cash prize. Team with lightest fish (by weight) will win a cash prize, to be determined. If there is a tie, the award will be divided among teams, not individual team members.

A team is awarded as one. So if there are multiple members on the team, cash prizes or other awards must be split as agreed upon by team members.

All burbot counted in the 48 hour competition MUST be caught out of the Tanana river between the Nenana railroad bridge and parks highway bridge.

At least one team member MUST be present at the Saturday 4:00pm award ceremony to win.

No drugs, alcohol, or illegal contraband. Evidence of such will result in immediate disqualification.

All contestants, and/or team members, will sign and agree to all of the above House Rules and all Alaska State and/or Alaska Fish & Game Rules & Regulations at Registration in order to participate.

BREAKING OF ANY OF THE HOUSE RULES, ALASKA STATE AND/OR ALASKA FISH & GAMES RULES & REGULATIONS WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.
